I have no idea. But Kim’s game – Kim’s lek – is one that all preschool and elementary school teachers seem to know. Oddly, I have met very few children who recognize the name of the game.
Educators, as other societies, have their own language that sometimes does not make sense for non-initiates. Analyzing textbooks and teacher’s manuals I find a lot of reference to theory made in colloquial terms, and I assume there are even more that I simply do not recognize. You have to know theory to be aware that “use English now and then” is not simply a suggestion that you implement second language usage throughout the day, or that you should organize the teaching in other segments than one subject an hour. It refers directly to a set of didactic theories…and to complicate matters further, not all teaching media live as they preach. They might suggest “English now and then,” but they continue to structure the material in chapters and lectures.
